Subject: An Excellent Sherlock Holmes
An exceptionally good half-hour program. The regular cast was ably abetted by a good supporting cast, which included Paulette Goddard. The plot was interesting and progressed at an acceptable rate. A pleasure to watch!

Subject: Classic TV - A must for Holmes Fans
this site introduced me to Ronald Howard as Sherlock Holmes and I shall be for ever grateful. After watching the six episodes available here, I treated myself to all 37 episodes made on a DVD collection!!

The TV series was never shown in the UK until a few years ago when a satellite channel called Bonanza continually repeated 8 episodes on a daily basis before going bust, They have recently reappeared as the Young@heart channel, repeating the same 8 episodes.

Howard is excellent as Holmes and his Dr Watson is almost as funny as Nigel Bruce was with Basil Rathbone. Archie Duncan (Little John from the 50s British Robin Hood TV series) plays a brilliant, if somewhat grumpy, Inspector Lestrade. The story lines are a little stilted and very dated but all in all, these shows are television history at its best.

Five Stars!!!!!

Nice cosy little short. The relationships between Lestrade, Holmes and Watson bears little resemblence to the one they share in the stories by Conan Doyle and other screen intepretations. I must say though didnt like the way Watson was portrayed as a slow blithering idiot even more than Nigel Bruces portrayl in the Universal series. Its quite funny to watch the secretary of Lord Beryl doing some extreme "Face Acting" for the camera. Worth a half hour of anyones time to see that alone.

A very good vintage production of Sherlock Holmes which stands the test of time in its own right.
A short , 25 ish minute production but very well made.
Good enough to be shown on one of the UK dodgy sat. channels in February 09.
I intend to download what is available of these.

I believe this was the only American television adaptation of Sherlock Holmes - although filmed in France and starred Leslie Howard's son, Ronald. Thanks for the uploads!
